EBRP Mayor Broome lets business and civic supporters do heavy lifting on touting her proposed 1/2 cent sales tax, but struggles with questions about concerns of U. S. Congressman Graves, Central residents, State Representative C. Denise Marcelle.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome gave one of the shortest presentations ever to the Baton Rouge Press Club (BRPC) on Monday, November 26, 2018 when she appeared to tout her upcoming 1/2 cent sales tax proposal for transportation improvements within the parish.  The election is on Saturday, December 8, 2018.  Instead, Broome deferred to a host of Baton Rouge business and community representatives to make her case for her.

 

Thereafter, however, Broome struggled in fielding a question posed by Sound Off Louisiana founder Robert Burns entailing opposition to her tax on the part of U. S. Congressman Garret Graves.  Here’s a look at her handling of that question.

Broome also fielded several questions entailing concerns of Central residents.  Let’s take a look at her responses to those concerns:

Broome also had to respond to a question by a BRPC member expressing concerns of State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle regarding the “regressive nature” of Broome’s proposed tax since it relies solely and exclusively on a 1/2 sales tax increase for parish residents.

As stated in the headline, Broome spoke very little on her own about her proposal.  Instead, she relied on a host of business and community spokespersons touting her  tax proposal.  Her presentation and those of the team she brought to support her proposed tax are depicted in the following video:

With U. S. Senator John Kennedy widely expected to announce his run for Louisiana Governor in the 2019 campaign within the next 13 days, we deemed now an appropriate time to roll out our 7-minute video of Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards making an absolute mockery of his “West Point Honor Code” which he touted so frequently in his successful 2015 campaign to become Governor of Louisiana.  Here’s the video production:

Of course, Gov. Edwards can expect to be hammered hard in next year’s campaign entailing this segment of a debate between former U. S. Sen. David Vitter and him on November 16, 2015:

Entailing the news headlines featured in the fist video above, as always, we welcome anyone to visit the JBE Fraud Website which Sound Off Louisiana founder Robert Burns formed on December 8, 2015 (a solid month before Edwards was inaugurated into office) when it became official that former LSP Col. Mike Edmondson’s reappointment was assured.

 

That fact ALONE demonstrated that Edwards had no intention of adhereing to any West Point Honor Code.  Why?  Because practically the entire state (and that most certainly included Edwards) knew of Edmonson’s significant character flaws.  Furthermore, Edwards is going to have great difficulty trying to credibly deny any knowledge of how badly flawed Edmonson was given the video on the preceding link wherein candidate Edwards readily acknowledged those flaws on July 24, 2014, not long after he announced his candidacy for Louisiana Governor.

 

Get ready for one heck of a race for Governor in 2019, folks!

Larry Carter, president of the Louisiana Federation of Teachers union, found himself encountering no walk in the park entailing his appearance before the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, November 12, 2018 where he spoke of planned efforts in the 2019 Louisiana Legislative Session to seek pay raises for Louisiana public school teachers and support workers:

Carter asked to defend sought-after pay raises given student performances.


Carter asked if sought-after teacher raises exceed those of other state employees.


Carter asked to defend pay raise proposal based upon teacher productivity.


Carter asked about the impact and sustainability of the Teacher Retirement System and its Unfunded Accrued Liability were his group to obtain its goal of 2.75% annual increases in public education funding.


Cater fields a series of questions entailing potential teacher walkouts if efforts to obtain pay raises in 2019 are either unsuccessful or deemed insufficient.
