State Rep. Mike Johnson appears on Sound Off to tout pledge calling for GOP members to agree to transparency and unity in selection of the next Speaker of the House.

In today’s Sound Off Louisiana feature, we were privileged to have State Rep. Mike Johnson (R-Pineville) visit with us regarding his recent efforts to have Louisiana GOP members of the House of Representatives execute a pledge calling for unity and transparency in the selection of Louisiana’s next Speaker of the House of Representatives.  He made it clear when he launched the initiative that he would not be a candidate for Speaker.

Johnson first went public with his efforts in this September 19, 2023 press release announcing his initiative.  Let’s now take a look at our interview with Johnson:

As stated on the video, we wish Rep. Johnson much success because certainly the process for selecting the Speaker in January of 2020 on the heels of the Edwards reelection victory certainly was very acrimonious with overhang that lasted for a protracted period thereafter!
