U. S. Sen. John Kennedy (regarding whichever Republican that Gov. Edwards faces in a runoff): “I’m going to do everything I can to convince President Trump to come down here and help!”

U. S. Senator John Kennedy, R – Louisiana, was the guest speaker at the East Baton Rouge Parish Republican Women’s meeting of Monday, August 19, 2019.  Let’s take a look at a few things he had to say:

Before taking questions from the panel, Sen. Kennedy teased the crowd with a couple of jokes and, yes, for the record, Sound Off Louisiana founder Robert Burns, whom Kennedy asserted will have “heard this one,” (entailing the second joke), Burns had indeed previously heard his joke but enjoyed hearing it a second time even more!

Kennedy provides his assessment of the race for Governor of Louisiana.  Note that, where Kennedy was vague about the in-the-tank journalists for Edwards when he addressed the Baton Rouge Press Club on July 1, 2019, he provided the names of two Advocate reporters whom he characterizes as having that trait in the video above.  Conservative talk-show host Moon Griffon would be quick to point out that, “You forgot to mention Tyler Bridges.”

Kennedy provides his thoughts on recent discussions about increasing gun control in light of recent mass killings in Texas and Ohio.

Kennedy’s presentation, which may be beneficial since many other candidates for public office were in the audience and viewing the early segment of the meeting gives an opportunity to see a face with a name for various upcoming elections.

Editor’s Note:  We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the EBRP Republican Women for their hospitality in hosting these events and especially for their open advocacy of transparency by warmly welcoming any and all media outlets to videotape their meetings.

On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, we attempted to attend the Livingston Parish Republican Women’s meeting and videotape candidate for State Senate J. Rogers Pope’s presentation to them; however, we were immediately told in no uncertain terms that our camera was most unwelcome.  Thus, we were summarily kicked out.  It’s our opinion that the public interest is not at all well served regarding the electing of public officials with policies such as the Livingston Parish Republican Women’s group has established regarding videotaping of their meetings.
