Former U. S. Congressman Cleo Fields, who, in 1997, was revealed through the contents of FBI wire taps to have accepted around $20,000 in cash from former Gov. Edwin Washington Edwards, is imploring Louisiana citizens to go out and support the current Edwards edition for Governor in 2015, John Bel Edwards.  Here’s a recording of him making his strong appeal:

voters to support John Bel Edwards for Governor of Louisiana.

In this Wikipedia feature on Fields, he states there was a “humorous explanation” of the episode.   From the preceding link:  ” At the time Fields stated that the incident was just an innocent business transaction between friends, and said there was a humorous explanation, which he would make public shortly thereafter. A cloud hung over Fields as an unindicted co-conspirator in Edwards’ criminal trial and in the end Fields refused to deliver the promised “humorous” explanation, stating that at the time of the cash transfer, he was not an elected official, and therefore under no obligation to explain publicly.

Bobby Jindal, who refused to sign off on the report until it was in its publicly-released format which, nevertheless, cites Edmonds for reporting being on the job while “performing no public purpose” and lying to investigators about the practice.  For her deceit, they recommended “appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination.”  Of course, given the corrupt nature of both these boards, the report was never even discussed at any meeting of either board!

Ike Jackson, candidate for Louisiana Attorney General

Even after qualifying for the election, Advocate reporter Mark Ballard refused to acknowledge his candidacy, and even though Ballard would state that the AG race is an “all GOP field,” Ike Jackson recently Sounded Off on incumbent James D. “Buddy” Caldwell (especially beginning at the 9:00 mark) in the following video:

09/22/15:  Ike Jackson Sounds Off on Attorney General James D. “Buddy” Caldwell (especially beginning at the 9:00 mark).

We at Sound Off Louisiana believe that the news media have a responsibility to AT LEAST report on ALL candidates who qualify for an election.  Hence, we provide the above video and also provide Ike Jackson’s website for learning more if anyone would like to do so.  Mr. Jackson is the ONLY candidate whom Mark Ballard at The Advocate has, for whatever reason, declined to acknowledge.
